about

This song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe Miller at The Wav Lab in Rock Hill, South Carolina, with the support of a Regional Artist Grant from the NCArts Organization.

Now I just need ten thousand people to buy this song so I can head back into the studio and record a full album. ;-)

Cheers.

lyrics

LYRICS:

I got stabbed by the devil himself
on the day that I was born.
Opened my eyes to a world of pain,
and a world where I was torn.
Ever since then I been stumblin’ on
like a man in a deep dark cave.
While a hundred fat Samaritans tell me,
“Brother won’t you just get saved.”

Well you can dig me a hole
in the cold hard ground,
call the Preacher and my friends all in.
Tell the cryin’ children to gather around,
throw their flowers and pine cones in.
But you should know before you go
sayin’ goodbye, so long, the end…
It ain’t over till the dirt falls in.

Stumbled on through over forty years
and everything’s just the same.
People running round pointin’ fingers now,
lookin’ for somebody to blame.
Everything’s gone from bad to worse
and the birdie of hope has flown.
Everybody lookin’ at the toes of our shoes,
thinkin’ “Guess I gotta go it alone.”

Don’t wanna see that it’s all just me
under a different name.
Everybody ridin’ the same old tracks
on the same old hellbound train.
But you should know before you go
sayin’ goodbye, so long, the end…
It ain’t over till the dirt falls in.

about

Josh Barkey Waxhaw, North Carolina

I grew up barefoot in the Amazon jungle, catching and eating piranhas before they could catch and eat me.

After hand planting around half a million baby trees in the wilds of Canada, I cut my creative teeth as a painter, poet, writer of fiction, sculptor, and filmmaker.

Now (on the eve of an apocalypse) seemed as good a time as any to add another art form to the mix.
